First game of the season and the weather clearly didn’t fancy us — rain pelting down, winds swirling, both teams battling just to string passes together. We went behind to a freak goal straight from a corner, the wind carrying it straight in with no chance for our keeper.

Despite the conditions, our lads dug in. We pressed hard for most of the first half, created openings, but just couldn’t find that finish.

Second half… completely different story. The boys came out playing brilliant football — crisp passing, smart movement, and a proper team goal to level it. Confidence grew, chances kept coming, and it wasn’t long before we found another. The rest of the half was a real back‑and‑forth battle with some top defending, and we were unlucky to concede right at the end.
