From the first whistle, the lads showed real intent and work ethic against a strong Blackburn United side—one that held their own mid-table in the league above last season. Both teams spent the early stages sizing each other up, with United’s pacey wingers probing down the flanks. But our defence stood tall, absorbing pressure and keeping shape.
After a few chances at both ends, United broke the deadlock. Yet our lads didn’t flinch. Ten minutes later, Luiz picked up the ball on the left, danced past two defenders, and unleashed a thunderbolt into the net to level the score. ⚽️
The second half was a showcase of heart and hustle. End-to-end action kept everyone on edge, and United managed to sneak ahead once more. With legs tiring and the opposition rotating fresh legs through their five subs, our lads dug deep. Jamie stepped up with a brilliant strike to make it 2–2. ⚽️
From there, we edged the contest and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty or a free kick for a clear passback. The lads gave everything—every tackle, every sprint, every pass was full of purpose.
