Statement from the Club’s Vice Chair
It is with regret that the Club has taken the decision to terminate our association with the Under 8 Red Team and management.
Several issues have arisen throughout the season which have breached the Club’s rules, policies and procedures. Some of these issues have also been in contravention of FA regulations, specifically the FA’s safeguarding regulations concerning player names on shirts.
Despite the Club offering advice and assistance in resolving the situation by funding the covering of the player names, this advice was not followed, and the team’s management devised an alternative solution which was not discussed with the committee and was still unacceptable.
We as a Club pride ourselves in setting high standards of discipline, integrity and safeguarding. Had we allowed what was a serious breach of FA regulations to continue, we would have been open to significant fines and disciplinary action from Lancashire FA. Clearly, we could not accept this burden which could have impacted upon all our teams.
It was not a decision that the committee made lightly, however it was a decision that we felt that we had no alternative to make once a solution to the issues could not be achieved amicably.
